Functional Biology, Insects and Interactions

Located in the scientific campus of La Doua in Villeurbanne (France), the "Functional Biology, Insects and Interactions" (BF2I) unit (Director : Gérard FEBVAY) is one of 27 INSA-Lyon research laboratories. The unit is joint to the Department "Plant Health and the Environment" of the National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA).

The research undertaken in the unit relates to the physiology of the insects and is focused on the analysis of the complex interactions with their symbionts, parasites and host plants.

Research themes :
- Plant - Insect interactions

- Symbiont - Insect interactions

- Entomophages - Insect interactions

- Bioinformatics

The research theme of Bioinformatics has been recently introduced in the lab in support to the initiative of introducing "Bioinformatics and Modeling" as a new engineering program in the Department of Biochemistry of INSA.
