UniPathway

UniPathway is a curated resource of metabolic pathways for the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot knowledgebase.

UniPathway provides a collection of manually curated metabolic pathways. Metabolic pathways are associated to a terminology and are possibly defined at the chemical level.

Protein-Reaction associations, i.e links between a protein (a gene-product) and the catalyzed reaction in a pathway, are stored into the annotation section of UniProt knowledgebase (CC-PATHWAY records). These associations are expertised by the Swiss-Prot group curation staff.

UniPathway is primarily designed to provide :

* A structured controlled vocabulary used in UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot to describe the role of a protein in a metabolic pathway, possibly up to chemical reaction level * An extra resource dedicated to metabolism exploration.

Thanks to its integration into OBIWarehouse (Open Biological Warehouse), UniPathway is able to offer several perspectives to apprehend metabolism :

* A chemical perspective * A protein perspective through exploitation of UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot resource * A genomic perspective through exploitation of Genome Reviews genomes * A taxonomic perspective through exploitation of NCBI taxonomy related to the UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot taxonomic coverage.

UniPathway web site is structured in thumb indexes. Click on a blue tab (Quick search, Browse pathway, Documentation, Current statistics, Credits) to load its content.
